Bill Shoe, 72, of Columbia, passed away on November 25, 2012 at Boone Hospital Center.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Parker Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Bill was born June 18, 1940 in Clinton, Missouri to Carl and Clayta Keyes Shoe and they preceded him in death. He was married on March 10, 1961 in LaMonte, Missouri to Betty Templeton and she survives.
He was a 1958 graduate of Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia. While in high school he worked at Stylebrook/Grand Cleaners. In 1962, he started his career in sales for Kitty Clover Potato Chip Company and in 1979 he continued in salty snack food sales with Frito Lay until his retirement in 1996. During his retirement, he enjoyed working part time for the 2000 census, Via Bank Carrier and Car Quest Auto Parts.
From 1960-1984, he played music for people’s dancing pleasure with the Lotta Lakes Band, Frankie and the Rythmn Makers and Bill Shoe and the New Beats.
Bill was a member of the Sunrise Optimist Club. He served as an officer for Independent Order of Foresters from 1974-2011. He volunteered as a Junior Bowling Coach from 1973-1982 and will soon be inducted into the Columbia Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
Bill enjoyed music, bowling and his dogs, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, brother, papa, son, friend and son-in-law.
Bill is also survived by his children, Larry Wayne (Dana) Shoe of Braymer, Missouri, Cynthia Denise (Dave) Harris and Shelly Ann (Ross) Herman all of Columbia; sisters, Marilyn Ward of Prairie Village, Kansas, Doris Gilliland of Joplin, Missouri and Maggie Shoe of Columbia; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Shoe and sister, Shirley Jean McClary.
