Betty Reu Baker, 84, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on November 9, 2012. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Epple Chapel at Lenoir Woods. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of services. Betty was born December 20, 1927 in McComb, Mississippi to Reuby Lewis Schwab and Nancy Craig Schwab and they preceded her in death. Betty leaves behind her husband of 57 years Park Baker. They were married on November 20, 1954 in Winchester, Illinois. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois. Betty was a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada for 49 years where she was an active member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. While living in Illinois, Betty had worked as a District Director for Girl Scouts and a social worker for the state of Missouri. She also worked as an Activities Director in a nursing home setting for thirteen years while in Las Vegas. Betty was an avid Fighting Illini fan, loved to read, watch Jeopardy and enjoyed bird watching. She is also survived by her son, Bruce and his wife Lynda Baker and their children, Kayla and Olivia all of Columbia; nieces, Kathleen and her husband Walt Pyper of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mary Jane Willey of Bloomington, Illinois and Bonnie and her husband Rick Parker of Alamo, California; nephew, John McVey of Tracy, California and long time best friend, Babs Lamek of Las Vegas, Nevada. Betty was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
