Eddie Ray Bennett, 70 of Columbia passed away Monday, October 8, 2012.

Services will be held at 11am, Friday, October 12, 2012 at Parker Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery in Ashland, MO. with military honors.

Eddie was born October 30, 1941 in Boone County to Emery Leland and Mary Helen Nichols Bennett. He married Shirley Hudson on March 28, 1965 and she survives.

Eddie graduated from Ashland High School in 1959. He served two years in the US Army during Vietnam War.

He worked for Richardson-Bass for 40 years retiring as a Supervisor. Eddie later worked for APAC, retiring in March 2000. He worked for Mid-City Lumber from 2000-2004 and then worked for Remsel Excavating from 2004 until his retirement in 2008.

Survivors include: his wife Shirley of Columbia; two sons, Brian Bennett and wife Rebecca of Atlanta, GA and Brent Bennett and wife Angela of Hallsville, MO; a brother, Jim G. Bennett of Ashland, MO and six grandchildren, Bryson Bennett, Reese Bennett, Aiden Bennett, Mitchell Bennett, Lily Bennett and Zach O’Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Bennett.
